can't scan mulitiple pages consecutively with office document scan

I have a Brother MFC 8500 with a "scan image" button. I was able to load
documents onto document feeder, press "scan image" button, and it would scan
all the documents (into ms office document scanning software, I believe, but
I'm not sure) and then pull the multiple page document up and prompt me to
save it. I had MS office xp professional at the time, I believe.

I have since loaded MS office 2003 standard, and it will only scan one page
at a time. It automatically scans the first page, and then prompts me to
press continue to scan another page, be done and save it, or cancel to
discard.

I have called Brother, and there is nothing wrong with my machine, because
it scans multiple pages in Paperport without a problem. But, I have to go
thru alot of manual steps to get it to do that. Before, I just pressed the
"scan image" button on the machine and it did it all automatically.

Any suggestions? Brother has been less than helpful and says it is a
software issue. thanks. Paula

I would suspect that origonally the scan btn was connected to the Brother
scanning application, and not to Office scanning.
My scanner, not Brother, has a scanning Btn but you can amend the scanning
application it uses.

You might want to check your Brother documentation, or Brother site for help
and FAQ's on your specific model

I called brother and the scanner pulls multiple pages just fine in their
software that came with the scanner, which is paperport. but, I have to get
to the program (about five or six steps) and ask it scan, where before, all I
did was press the "scan image" button on the scanner and it automatically
pulled all of the pages and scanned them into microsoft office doument
scanning.

the only change I made was loading ms office 2003 standard. I think we
might have had the version of office called office xp professional before. I
think that was what was installed on the computer when we got it. Do you
think it had anything to do with having frontpage as part of that version of
office? just a thought. I don't know anything about frontpage, but I think
that came off when we switched to office 2003 standard. we had to use
outlook 2003 to work with our ACT software and for it to sync to the
phone/palm. thanks for your help. Paula

You need to check with your Brother software that you have installed as to
what software the 'scan btn' is using.

Usually there is an option to associate the Scanner Btns with specific
software, if its associated with Paperport I would expect the resulting
output to be in a pdf file format - at least when I scan via paperport the
output is. I suspect your scn btn has been associated with MS Imaging - you
need to amend this.
