Can't search for contacts

Hi, Just bought a new notebook computer and migrated to it by using Vista's
easy transfer after installing all of my programs. I chose the option to
transfer all date, files and settings. Using Office 2007. My contacts are
in my contacts folder, but when I search for them, say from an email or the
search addresss book window in Outllook they are nowhere to be found. How
can I correct this problem, please?

You cannot use WET with Outlook. It creates a corrupt profile. Create a new
Outlook profile from scratch and migrate your data to it correctly.

This response was helpful, but I'm not sure what the proper way to transfer
that data is. I usually have just copied my pst file with no problems at
all, which I know is not the case for so many posts I read here. Now I may
have the problem of keeping track of the emails and I've written and received
in Oulook over the last week. More specific ideas would be helpful, please,

We do post that information every day. The file you need is your Personal
Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are
stored.

I'm really sorry if I sound dumb. I'm just not getting this solved. I
created a new profile. Deleted the old. Ran a Microsoft repair tool on the
..pst file and it corrected errors. Pointed Outlook to the repaired .pst
file, but I still can't open contacts. I read the 3 articles to which you
pointed. I build my own computers and solve most problems on my own, but
this one is escaping me.

can't open your Contacts.

Problem solved after following the directions you indicated. Apparently my
computer wanted me to not only close and restart Outlook, but to do a reboot.
"Search address book" works fine now. It didn't last night when I called it
a day. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate the time you take to reply
to all of the problems that get posted here. I can usually find what I need
with a search in the database of past experiences from others.
