I have a customer with Exchange 2003 SP1 on Windows Server 2003 and Outlook
2003 SP1 on Windows XP Pro SP2. All security updates have been applied. When
the server was deployed, a GPO was defined to disable the Journaling of
email, tasks, etc. Now a user wants to use the Journal in Outlook. The user
was moved into a new OU that didn't have the GPO defined to disable to
Journaling of items. Unfortunately, they can't see their Journal using the
"Folder List" shortcut to show all of them. If they hit CTRL+8 or use the
Outlook startup switch "outlook.exe /select outlook:journal", they can't
access their Journal but there is no icon in the folder list for it. Moving
to the inbox, calendar or other folder makes the Journal disappear. When they
do get the Journal open, there is no Journal icon and name listed in the top
left under "My Journals". Has anyone ever seen this before? I have tried some
of the other Outlook startup switches to reset the folders and other things
with no luck. I have confirmed that the Journaling is turned on for email and
Word files but can't get any new Journal items to show up, just emails. Does
anyone know how to get it so I can see the Journal listed in the "Folder
List"? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
