Can't See Pictures in Geo-Cites (Re-submit Question)

G

gonefishing

Okay let me try this again.

Hi,

http://www.geocities.com/mymymymyra/index.html

I posted this question a few weeks ago and got a couple of answers that I
didn't understand. Could someone please look and this uncomplete site and
tell me what I need to do to get my pictures to show up. I put up 3 pages.
The page that shows Shortbread Cookies in Birch Box is the page where I can't
see the picture. The page that shows the Shortbread Cookies in a Glass Jar
is shown with the picture. When I view the contents of each page, everything
is different so I don't know what I'm looking for. I changed the titles and
took out the spaces in the words as I was told to do with the last question I
submitted, but the picture still does not show up.

I made a cold call today and got a great response, but when she asked for my
web site info, I obviously wasn't prepared to give her that. I really need
to get this site up quickly.

Thanks for your help, and as always...HAIL TO THE FRONT PAGE GODS!

I did read it, but I changed the site and you can now see the picture that he
said I didn't download. Please review.

Suggestion: since this appears to be a commercial business site, then you need to get a domain name
and real web hosting service.

That's the problem. You can only see the Shortbread Cookie in a Sculptured
Jar. You can't see the pictures on the other pages. I uploaded my pages
from FP2003. When I uploaded there were pictures on all of the pages. The
only picture that came thru from FP was the "Shortbread Cookies in a
Sculptured Jar". --

I did the same thing on each page when I inserted my pictures from FP. So I
don't know why only one picture is visible.

Here's the site again. http://www.geocities.com/mymymymyra/index.htm

Does the live/remote site have the FP extensions, if so then open the live/remote site in FP and
then re-insert your images.

Thanks Thomas. A while back I was told by this community board that I could
use geocites to put the design up so you could see the problems I was having.

I did everything everyone told me to do but the pictures are still not
showing up. I am in the design mode, at this point I don't need a host, I
can't even get the design right. I haven't registered the name because, I
might not use it. If I get hosting at this point, I still don't have the
site complete...no pictures. That's what I'm trying to figure out what's
happening to the pictures. I've seen other people put up their page so that
"the community" can see the problem. Sorry if I'm wrong here, but I don't
know how else to show the problem and get a solution from the community
board.

I think someone also told ya that using a host like geocities is gonna cause
you a lot more pain that designing on a real host would.

Ok.

Can you provide step by step how you are inserting the images on to your pages and where the image
are located when you insert them?

I created each page in FP2003. When it was time for pictures, I went to:

Insert
Picture
From file (located on my documents and then pictures)

I then proceeded to get the pictures that were sent to me by the company
that makes the cakes and cookies. The only difference I can see is that the
picture of the glass cookie jar has a soft edge, and the other pictures
don't. Otherwise, nothing different. I can see the pictures while in
design, preview and then when you click on the Internet Exployer view on the
FP bar. When I put the pages on geocites, I could see everything except the
pictures, with the exception of the picture for the page entitled "Shortbread
Cookies in Sculptured Glass Jar".

I looked at the coding on all of the pages right around where the picture
information is, but it was all foreign to me.

I copied these things from the FP code pages.

The first one is for the page without a picture.
<img border="0" src="shortbreadcookiesinbirchbox.gif" width="320"
height="240"><br>
</font></p>

And this is the info from the code page with a picture.
<img SRC="http://store1.yimg.com/I/yhst-34008116794640_1845_264085"
WIDTH="299" HEIGHT="224"></font></p

I have no clue as to why I can't see the gif. image in the second string.
In FP all of the images were saved in gif. files. Bad headache.

Thanks for your help!

When I tried to import the picture directly in to the page, nothing happened.
The import command did nothing. A box came up that said import file, I went
to the file, selected the picture, clicked on import and nothing happened.

you may have imported it into the wrong folder by mistake...make sure you
have your images folder selected before you import (or whatever folder you
like to keep your images in).

infact i just tried it without selecting a particular folder and it ended up
in _borders folder which is a Hidden folder, maybe you did something like
that.

Make sure the site is open in folder view, then all you need to do is select your files from your HD
in My Computer, etc. then drag-n-drop into the images folder within your current open web.

Hi gonefishing,

You don't import a picture into a page..but rather to a folder. After it is
imported into a folder you insert it into a page from that folder. If you
don't see the picture right way after you import it try doing an F5 to
refresh your web.

G

gonefishing

Hi,

I did exactly what you said...I imported the pictures in to the images
folder and then inserted the pictures into the page. That didn't work. Then
I went back and copied and pasted the pictures from the images folder into
each page and then I simply drug them from the image folder into each page.
None of that worked!

I went back and copied the codes from each page again. Look at the code for
the picture that does appear vs. the code on the page that doesn't appear.

This entire code seen below is something that is completely different from
the codes in the image area on all of the other pages. This code allows the
picture to appear.

<img SRC="http://store1.yimg.com/I/yhst-34008116794640_1845_264085"
WIDTH="299" HEIGHT="224"></font></p

And then this is the code below is appears on all of the pages where the
picture does not appear.

<img border="0" src="shortbreadcookiesinbirchbox.gif" width="320"
height="240"><br>
</font></p>

But here is the most important question. Do you think this is just a
GEOCITES problem? If I go on a get a host company, do you think the
pictures will be available?

I was up until 4 am reading and trying to figure this out. It's driving me
crazy. I'm on the East coast, my head is killing me, I haven't stopped to
eat...yes, this is addicting! Sorry to keep bothering you all.

Thanks so much for your help. I will keep trying.

does your yahoo/geocities account have Frontpage Extensions installed?

I still think you'd be better off with a paid hosting package with frontpage
extensions...yer wasting time trying to make this work on a server that
you're not gonna use anyway..right?
