can't see text in any office files anymore

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel on my macbookpro: can't see text in any office files anymore (word, powerpoint, excel). only when using preview function from OSX.
what's wrong???
do I have to re-install the all suite? any quick fix?
