Can't see text in cell while typing

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

So today while editing one of my spreadsheets, it randomly changes to where I cannot see anything I am typing in a cell. If I turn on Formula Builder, I can see my text/number in the bar at the top, but I cannot see it in the cell until I press Enter and am finished typing. (if it helps, Comments are off) This is driving me nuts because I cannot see anything I type! PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, so I figured it out. Under Preferences>Edit>"Double-Click allows editing directly in the cell," was unchecked. I checked this and it fixed my problem.
