Can't "see" word files

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When I go to open the file, it's not in the folder where I saved it (wtih all the other similar files).

So, I go to "recent files", and the file opens just fine.

Then I do a "save as" in an effort to put it back in the folder where all the others are. It says "file already exists". Again, can't see it.

Help!

Go to File>Open and check what you have "Enable" set to?

Unfortunately that's not it. We have 50 word docs in this folder and we can see all but two. It's so odd.

Enable is set to "all files".

Enable is set to "all files".

Your filename wouldn't by any chance have some unusual character
as the first character in the filename would it?

Certain prefix characters such as a "." would make the file
invisible to most views. The finder trys to prevent you doing
this sort of thing but Microsoft has a history of jumping over
fences when run in Apple software :)

So when you try the "save as", give it a different name and see
if it appears.
