Can't see .zip files when inserting attachment

When I try to insert a .zip file as an e-mail attachment, the dialoge box
does net display them. I can see them in Windows Explorer, and I can drag and
drop the .zip file into my message as an attachment, but the insert dialoge
box doesn't show that it's there. I send .zip files all the time to
customers, so this is kind of a pain. I didn't have a problem with this
before, and I haven't changed any settings that I'm aware of, but all of a
sudden, they aren't there any more!! Is there a setting that I can change to
allow me to select them in the insert box?? Please help.

In the Insert File dialogue box, at the bottom are you selecting "Files of
type" as ALL files or have you specified a type of file?

Windows XP, by default, treats zip files and folders. If you want to see
them as files, you have to unregister the zip file handler. Click Start>Run
and enter the following in the Open field:

regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll

Click OK. To put things back again, use:

regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

Thank you both for your replies. I simply restarted my computer, and it was
fine. It's absurt that restarting the computer should fix these problems or
that they would just happen out of the blue in the first place. It's too bad
that we are all slaves to Microsoft, because I think we'd all be better off
with Macs.

WinXP seems to have a bug where sometimes zip files just aren't shown at all
when you try to attach them to emails. It doesn't matter if a zip handler is
registered or not. Usually you can just close and restart Outlook and then
you can see them, sometimes it takes a Windows restart. MS has been informed
of this bug.
