Can't seem to save macros in Word 2003

I create a macro and assign it to a button on a toolbar. I use the
organizer to save it to Normal.dot.

However when I open the file again the macro disappears and so does my
customized button. I have tried renaming the normal.dot to another
name so a new one will create but that doesn't help. I notice the
macro will save to my word document itself and when I go to the
organizer it doesn't show up on the normal.dot even though I had
already copied it over previously. No matter what it seems to
disappear.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, then the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents
Word from automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template
(which is where macros and toolbar customizations are stored).
See http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331259.html for several
solutions to the problem.

Yes I have that version of Adobe Acrobat. It wouldn't let me update (I
am at work and don't had administrative rights) so I temporarily
removed it (at least it let me do that) so I could update my macros in
Word. It worked. Thanks so much. I was almost pulling my hair out.
This helped a lot.
