can't select submenu language

Hi, I work with MacOs 10.3.9 and I've installed Office 2004. It works
propperly untill I did an update.
Suddenly the "language"-submenu under the tools-menu disappeared.
Everywhere I look arround (help-function etc.) they recommend if you
have troubles with the spelling checker, that you first select the
language in that submenu. I tried to reinstall the whole thing, and did
a ful install so I'm sure to have every option on the cd installed, but
still: no submenu "Language" available! Can someone help me?

Make sure you didn't accidentally turn on "Word 5.1 Menus". Look under View
to see if there's a check next to that option. If that isn't the problem:

If you go to Tools | Customize Toolbars/Menus, select the Menu Bar, and
click Reset, it should set all your main menus and built-in toolbars back to
the default.

If you have customized your menus or toolbars, you may want to explore the
Tools | Customize, Commands dialog, and drag the commands you are missing
back to the toolbars/menus yourself, rather than wipe out your
customizations by clicking Reset.

Thank you! I found that specific tool, but if I select "language" and
then I aske for a spelling check, Word quits and throws me out! I
already did a new install, but that isn't a solution. A threw away my
prefs, but that doesn't solve the problem... What should I do now?

Hi Peggy -

As you found out reinstalling does no good - unless you do a full removal
first... And this is typically the last resort on a Mac.

Is Office 2004 fully updated (11.3)? Use the updater from the Mactopia site
to do so. In fact, even if you have, it may not be a bad idea to reinstall
it as well as the OS X Combo updater from the Apple site.

Have you run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions? If not, give that a try
first, then follow the above suggestions if necessary. Run the Utility again
after each update.

Should you still have problems there may be something here that will help:

Let us know how you make out.
