Can't send any mail - Error: 18597

Ok, I've browsed through tons of sites, blogs and FAQ's having the same
problem and have tried all of the suggestions but can't get it to work :(

I've set up an Exchange account in Entourage and I get all my account info
(mail, calendar etc) downloaded to my computer without any problems.

When I try to send any mail I get the error message: "Entourage is unable to
access the mail account you are using with the mail server configured for
that account." - id: 18597.

I am using Entourage 2008 connecting to Exchange 2007.
* I am using the same SMTP in Entourage account settings as I have in
Exchange
* Dav/WebDav is enabled
* I have tried all formats of server name including
"https:<serverName>/exchange/[email protected]>"
* I have tried deleting the domain info, keeping that field empty
* I can connect to my webmail through Safari at https://<myServername>/owa
using same authentication as stated in Entourage account
* I have the same server string as above for public folders except for
exchanging /exchange to /public
* I have tried using /owa instead of /exchange

No luck being able to send mail though..

Right now I am getting a bit frustrated and I hope that someone may be able
to help me out with some more suggestions?

Is this a -18597? If yes, see this link:

Hi Diane,

I've read through these pages even before and have had no luck.
I am using my owa host as stated below and have no problem downloading
objects, just can't send anything.

I am connecting perfectly using Safari and with my iPhone using same
authentication.

I have tried all the pointers in these links as well as in 20+ others.

Since this is my first Mac (PC nerd for the last 2 decades) I am totally
lost :) I understand all technical descriptions, but can't for the life of
med get it to work on my Mac :-(

Any other pointers that I may try out?

Are you being sure to use your primary SMTP E-mail address and not a
secondary?

No,

I am using Safari which is included in the default OS shipped with the
computer.. 3.2.1 it seems to be..

Well, I think I will give up on this issue now and use my windows partition
for all my email.

Thanks for trying to get this solved! Appreciate the help!

Hi William,

Well, I have lots of email-addresses for my account, but I am using the
default SMTP (marked as bold in Exchange), which I have read in some posts
that I should use?

I would guess that this poblem actually is an Exchange problem and not an
Entourage one. I have all the admin rights I need for the Exchange server,
but haven't found any setting that may help me..

Be sure to post your question in the microsoft.public.exchange.admin
newsgroup too.
