Can't Send E-Mail Outlook 2007

When I try to send an e-mail it gose to the outbox. even when I hit the Send
& Receive tab. It remains in the outbox. when exiting a message say's exit
without sending. Then after you exit without sending another pop box say's
outlook has stop working. Can anybody help?
