the short version: im getting the following message when i try to send
emails... nothing special.. just trying to send... yes i have checked to make
sure the from field has my name in it and it does....
you do not have permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user
the long version: a long time ago, i needed to access other peoples email
accounts and wanted to have all of their inboxes independaltly available from
my single outlook program.
so i added each of their accounts as a profile and proceeded to check each
persons email by choosing their profile and entering their credentials..
however something strange started to happen... when i went back to my
profile, i would still recieve and send emails as if i was logged on as
someone else. in other words if i was logged onto my profile - ben - i would
be sending and recieving emails as someone else.. mark...
as a result i deleted everyones profile and went back to just mine...i am
recieving emails as usual...but there is a problem... when i go to send
emails as me - ben - i cant.. i get the above mentioned error message... what
i have figured out through trial and error, is that if i change the from
field to mark.. (though it should be ben) outlook will let me send an
email.. but of course it will say it is from mark...
the only work around i have found is to go to my account settings and check
the "always prompt for logon credentials" box... then i put in my user name -
ben and my password, and i can send and recieve emails correctly...
so what seems to be happening, is that unless i supply credentials, part of
outlook/exchange thinks i am mark...
this makes no sense to me.. i just want to send emails without having to
enter my damn password every time i open outlook
fyi - our exchange server is 2003
my os is xpsp2
outlook 2007
thanks in advance
