I'm getting the following error when trying to send email using Outlook 2000
or Outlook Express 6
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.comcast.net',
Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Brief history - 2 weeks ago I installed Norton Internet Security 2005 (not
only AntiVirus, but all of NIS) on Win ME. NIS worked fine, but I couldn't
send email - received email fine. Last week I upgraded to Win XP Home, after
the upgrade still had email sending problems and NIS was incompatible with
XP. I uninstalled NIS. I also learned that NIS email anti-spamming features
may have caused the email problems. Because NIS isn't on my system anymore I
can't turn that feature off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
