can't send email - Outlook not supported by isp, Peoplepc

I cannot send email with Outlook. My ISP, Peoplepc, said that they do not
support Outlook (although they do support Outlook Express). I bought Outlook
for its better capabilities and I was wondering if there was any solution to
the problem of my isp not supporting Outlook.
Thanks

Now there's a funny thing... how can you support OL express but not OL ?
I don't know that isp, but i never had any problems with any isp to get OL
working...
You just need to know the mailtype, serveradresses and passwords to make it
work.
I might be wrong... so i'd really be interested what others are going to
tell you here.

What happens when you try?
What version of Outlook are you using?
I assume you are using a POP3 mail account?

It is possible to deny certain mail clients. For instance by dropping the
mails with a certain header.

More likely customer support meant that they cannot help with configuration
issues in Outlook as they are only trained to configure and troubleshoot
Outlook Express. Therefore their statement is correct; they don't support
Microsoft Office Outlook and you should figure it out for yourself.

After I set up the email account and do Test Account Settings, I get an Error
Message: Unable to send test message.

Outlook 2003 (11.8118.8122) SP2

yes - POP3

I read on the internet last night that some isp's do not allow you to send
messages from Outlook - you have to Send from their webmail. I think this
has to do with something about blocking the smtp port or something. I'm
surprised at the comments that this is unexpected. Please clarify. I do not
know anything about this kind of thing.
My incoming mail server is pop.peoplepc.com
my outgoing mail server is smtpauth.peoplepc.com
my outgoing mail port is 587
my server does not use authenticaton when logging on
