Can't send email when notebook is remote

I have a notebook with Outlook 2003 that can send and receive fine from the
office, but when I am at home Outlook can only receive, but not send. When I
test the settings, it reports "can't find server", even though incoming and
outgoing servers are the same, and I am using standard ports. If I take the
notebook on the road, it works fine. Could there be a setting on my home
network that is breaking this?

is the isp the same? if not, your home provider could be blocking access to
any server but their own.
