Can't send emails through Outlook 2007

Steve H.

I have a new machine running Vista Ultimate & I have installed Office 2007
Professional Plus. My issue is my emails won't send. I have another machine
running XP Professional with Office 2007 Professional Plus and it is working
fine. I have read in several forums where the router is being blamed for
this so I have taken that factor out by hard wiring directly to the cable
modem & am still having the same issue. On my XP machine I briefly had this
same issue but I went into Outlook Express & set up my mail account (which
would allow me to send....) then I opened Outlook 2007 and it asked if I
wanted to import the account from Outllook Express - once it imported the
account I had no issues. Unfortunately I attempted the same thing with Vista
Ultimate by setting up the account in Windows Mail but it would never send
out so even though it imported into Outlook 2007 it still wouldn't send.
The message I get when Outllook fails to send is:
"Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP)
e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)."
I know that the provider is working b/c I can get it to send without a
problem on my XP Pro machine for the same account. In addition on the Vista
Ultimate machine I am receiving emails without a problem. FYI - I have taken
all of the updates for Vista & Office 2007. Any help would be much
appreciated.
