cant send or delete email using the designated ribbon icons

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I am an entourage novice of about 6 months. Today I suddenly was unable to use the ribbon send and delete icons. In fact I cant send out anything. I am able to receive though and delete from the drop down menu but not send. Extremely frustrating!!!!! Can anyone help.
