can't send/receive mail in vista w/ outlook 2000

I was previously able to send/receive email until a week ago but not get the
error msg "Unable to connect to server: account: mail.bellsouth.net...error

This is caused by either your AV emails being scanned or a 3rd part anti spam filter.

Disable your automatic email scanning for incoming and outgoing email and also disable your anti spam filtering if any.
