Can't setup "Alert Me" option

Hi Guys,
I installed Project Server and I configured the email server settings to
send/receive email notifications for task assigments, task progress, etc.
I'm using our internal exchange server to send/receive these emails (it
works!). The issue I'm facing is when I try to create an alert, I want to
receive email notifications when a shared document is modified, but what I
get is a general application error that said:


"This virtual server is not configured to send e-mail. For assistance,
contact your server administrator.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services. "

I already configured the exchange server information in the Server
Settings--> Alerts and Reminders option.

Can someone give me a light on this point?

I got it guys... I missed the SharePoint email outgoing configuration step.
