Can't setup task alerts on Project Web Access...

I have configured the WSS server with our exchange server address and from
the sharepoint site I am able to setup notifications successfully and I'm
getting the e-mails. However, when I go to the project web access page and
click on either "Alert me about my tasks and status reports" or "alert me
about my resources on tasks and status reports", I get the following message:

"The SMTP e-mail server is not set up properly to deliver notification and
reminder emails. Please contact your server administrator"

If I go to a particular project's site, I can setup notifications for
changes in documents for example and I do not get that message.

Both Project Server and the WSS Server are on the same machine.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Customize Project Web Access
3. Click the Notifications and reminders link in the sidepane on the left
4. Enter the e-mail server information on this page
5. Click the Save Changes button

Hope this helps.
