Can't show Nikon jpg pictures in Word text box

Images (DSCxxxx.jpg) from my Nikon D50 will not insert
into an MS Word text box correctly. No picture is seen.

If I open the picture in MS Digital Image Pro 10, then
save the picture using the "save as" tool (simply open the picture and then
save it; no other changes), then the picture will insert in an MS Word text
box correctly.

I would appreciate any help you could give to resolve the
problem.

Thanks

It works for me (Sony). Can you work around it by simply inserting a picture
into your document (try laying down a load of returns first) and then using
the text wrapping tool specify "behind text"
Now put in your text box and position the text over the picture and then
group the text and the picture.

I know copying a picture straight into a text box shoudl work but it is
often quicker to use a work around than worry about the original problem

I usually use a load of returns in the text box, then move the cursor to the
top of the box and insert the picture. I don't have this problem using
pictures taken on an Olympus C765 camera which supposedly is saving the
picture to the same jpg format.

Nikon has said that some programs have trouble with the EXIF data (the extra
shooting data that digital camera's attach to photos). I don't know what the
EXIF data is but has this been a problem with MS Word? If so is there an
update out there that will fix the problem?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Gary,

EXIF spec data is not always compatible with the Graphics Engine of Windows XP (GDI+). The update to Windows XP linked from this
article may help.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323400/en-us?FR=1

There are also graphics programs and utilities that can remove the EXIF data from a graphic if your camera does not include a
setting to remove it when saving.
