Can't shut down outlook

When I shut down my computer after having used my outlook
program I have been getting an "end program" notice for
outlook.exe giving me a few seconds to click "end now"
before I can shut down. I have closed outlook and all
other programs before I shut down. I ran outlook "detect
and repair" but to no avail. Windows seems to think that
outlook is still running when I shut down. What should I
do?
