Can't shut off compatibility report

E

Ed Henninger

In Word 2004 with Mac G5.

Can't shut off compatibility report after saving a document prepared from a
template. No matter how many times I have tried to shut off, it continues to
ask for check whenever I close the document.

Thanks for all help.

Hi Ed,

That's odd! Try renaming your Word prefs and/or Normal template and see if
that helps. Instructions here:

<http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/DamagedPrefs.htm>
<http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/MacWordNormal.htm>
(If using Safari, hit Refresh once or twice; better yet, use another browser
for this site.)

Beth:

Sorry, earlier response sent to you, not group.

Went so far as to remove and re-install Office 2004. Still no change. Other
advice?

Hi Ed,

(Just checked my junk mail folder and found your posts. That's just *one*
reason why it's always best to post to the newsgroup :).)

Did you fully remove Office using the Remove Office tool as explained here:
<http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/RemoveReinstall.htm>
(If using Safari, hit Refresh once or twice; better yet, use another
browser.)

If so, I'm stumped. Anyone else got an idea?

Beth:

Yep. I mistakenly sent to your address instead of the newsgroup. Strange how
easy it is to do that.

I believe I fully removed and reinstalled exactly according to the web page
you sent as a link. When I have more time (HAH!) I may try it again. It's
interesting that this works only on the Normal template. If I take another
file and copy it to use as a "template," this doesn't happen.

Thanks for your help. If anyone else has another idea, I'll jump on that
one.

I believe so. I'm gonna try again next weekend‹the first time I'll have the
time to work on this again.

Thanks for staying with me on this.
