Can't uninstall Office 2000

Hello Everyone -

A friend has Office 2000 installed on his Windows 2000 machine and wants to
uninstall it. When he attempts to do this the uninstall program wants him to
insert a CD (I think it's Setup Disk 1 or some such) but he doesn't have any
Office CDs because he inherited the machine. Isn't there some way to
uninstall it without CDs?

No! Quoting from KB239938: "Do not use this utility to completely
clean a working copy of Office from a computer. Run this utility only
after you run the Setup program for Office 2000, and then click Remove
Office."

I read the OP's question the same way, but the Office 2000 eraser
utility is not designed to remove a complete Office 2000 installation...
it is only supposed to be used to remove the remnants *after* running
the Office 2000 uninstall program from the Office 2000 CD.

OK. I understood it as DL. So I re -read it and understood it different as did g-n-o. So out of curiosity I installed my Off2000Premium (took a long time to find) on one of my test machines. After Install I tried the Tool to remove it and it did not do the job. It left Off2000 in shambles. I repaired the install with the install disk and then proceeded the uninstall it with the CD 1. I was able to do it painlessly and after removal I run the tool in the supplied KB and it removed quite a bit of leftovers from the 2000 install.

The tool in the KB is for the removal of left over's from the Office 2000 install. Now my curiosity is satisfied
