Can't uninstall Office XP

D

Dave

I am trying to uninstall Office XP Pro (with Front page) in order to
clean-up-and-start-again. I've had some niggling problems after installing a
new hard disk and changing drive letters. The problem seems to be down to
the PROPLUS.MSI file which Windows Installer refuses to find, even though I
have the orginal CDs and have other copies of the file. So I thought I
uninstall the whole lot and start over.

Problem is that you can't uninstall if Installer can't find/recognise
PROPLUS.MSI. Ctach 22!!!

I have Windows XP SP2, and my installation of Office XP Pro was updated to
SP2.

Funny thing is, all Office apps seem to work OK except Oultook which doesn't
start from the *special* desktop icon (but does start from a manual
shortcut), and Microsoft Active Sync 3.8 which says that Outlook is not
installed (but it is!).

At your risk, (don't assume I have any idea what I am talking about) try
running PROPLUS.MSI directly by double clicking it. Just a thought.

maybe you could also try restoring the drive letters.
