Can't Uninstall Visio 2000 after Visio 2003 Pro Installed

I've been trying to clean up my 3 yr old XP SP2 Home desktop files and
unneeded programs and realized that after installing Visio 2003 Pro,
Visio 2000 was not deleted during the install process. From the
Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs window, the strange thing is that
when I select Visio 2000 it does not give the option to remove the
program, only the "Change" button is active.

Does anyone know why this would be and how to uninstall it? I did try
loading Visio 2000 from the Start/Programs menu to see if it had an
uninstall procedure but the Visio 2000 program stalls/locks up the pc
when I try to load it.

As an aside - MS Office Pro 2003 and Visio 2003 are working fine, but
they do seem slow to load.

Thanks

Hi,

Visio 2000 used a different kind of installer
With the problems you have at hand the only way is to manually remove the
app
the best is first to remove visio 2003
than continue with removing all files and folders pointing to visio like, the
folder c:\program files\visio as well as the visio folder in the common
files/microsoft shared
next is to remove registry entries for instance with an tool like regclean
afterwards you check the registry on all terms with 'visio'
reboot the machine and install visio 2003
Is still not guaranteed to work especially if your visio version was visio
enterprise
If the version was visio visio standard you have less problems

A quick note to thank you *bigtime* for your help on getting this
problem resolved. I finally got the time today to walk through your
steps below and everything with MS Office Pro 2003 and now Visio 2003
are working fine -- the biggest improvement is now how fast all Office
program load compared to before Visio 2000 standard was manually
uninstalled.

The only thing I did different is I used Registry Mechanic for cleaning
up the 800+ registry errors that were found after Visio 2000 was
deleted (prior to Visio 2003 being installed). Since I am by no means
a WinXP jockey I have no idea if RM is better then RegClean, but it did
appears to have done the job.

Thanks again ...
