Can't unjunk valid email sent from network scanner

Chris

Hopefully someone can help me out here, because this is a weird one:

We recently installed an IKON printer/scanner in our office. It has the
ability to scan a document and email it to internal users. One user isn't
getting the scanned documents that are emailed to him - they keep ending up
in the Outlook 2003 Junk Email folder. I can't unjunk these emails, because
the sender address is listed simply as the user alias, and Outlook pops up an
error that only full email addresses or domains can be added to the Safe
Senders list.

This is definately an issue with the Outlook filter, because when I change
the Junk setting from High to Low the documents come through just fine. But
the weird part is that he is the only user with this problem - other users
have their Junk settings on High and they still get documents sent to them.

The user doesn't want to lower his Junk settings, so I'm at a loss. Anyone
have any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Do all users have the same junk e-mail filter installed? If not, you could
try using Windows Update to install the latest filters on the misbehaving
computer.

Or you could update the Safe Sender List manually by going to Tools |
Options | Preferences | Junk E-mail...can you see the e-mail address if you
double click the name of the scanner?

Tried to update the list manually but can't - got the same error. Outlook
requires "@domainname.com" for the junk email lists. Kind of a stupid
requirement, if you ask me. The email doesn't list a full sender address,
just a username/alias, as it's pulling that info either from the GAL or LDAP.

Do you know how to check the version of the filter on the user's machine?

Thanks

Configure your printer so that it presents a valid mail address as the
sender.
