Can't Update a network install now standalone

Hello,

I bought a open box IBM desktop that had been leased to DHL. It came
with MS 2003 Office installed. I have Office 2003 SBE, a retail
version. In an effort to get going, I did not uninstall the version on
the computer. When I try to update it, I get a message that because the
original version was installed over the network by the administrator I
cannot update it.

Is there a way around this problem by editing the registry etc? Or is
my only option uninstalling this version and installing my disk based
version?

Thanks,

Chris

Most likely the Office 2003 installed on that computer (previously leased to
DHL) is a volume licensed copy (this is consistent with the message that the
installation was done from an administrative install).

You'll need to uninstall the existing Office 2003 before you can install
your Retail Office 2003 SBE.
