CAN'T UPDATE from 4.2.1 to v.X PLEASE HELP

I've got Office 4.2.1 and I bought UPDATE Office v.X. I've instlled v.X
but when I go though the UPDATE screen (after I luanch WORD) and
click on the "BROWSE" for old software (which is on the CD-ROM for
Mac OS 9) it says that it can not update becasue there is no software on
the disk to be updated!!!

That CD-ROM for Office 4.2.1 is for OS 9 and I can't install it because
I'm running OS 10.3 (PANTHER) and there is no classic OS 9.

How can I update from Office 4.2.1 to Office v.X ???


PS: I'm running OS 10.3, Panther on an G4 iMac.

Unfortunately, the Update version will only update from Office98 or
Office2001, or one of their stand-alone apps. See

for details. Your best bet now is to find a cheap version of Office98,
Word98, etc., perhaps from eBay, a school bookstore, a user group, etc.
Or you can buy an upgrade version of Word2001 for $109 since you have
Office 4.2.1, then use that disk to validate the v.X update version.
