Can't use any windows programs

I have a new laptop but suddenly all my windows 2007 programs are locked, I
cannot alter anything on any existing documents as the toolbar is unusable
except for the view toolbar. Nor can I open a new document. When I try a
message comes up saying, the modification is not allowed as the selection is
locked. Does anyone know what I should do?

It's either a trial version that has expired (time to buy), or a new retail
version you installed without the activation key.
