so how do i export all my autotexts from word 2003 to outlook 2007?
i am having to re insert each and every one and still when i open again
outlook, it doesnt alway work?

where abouts in the "Quick Parts function " can I find the autotext or
similar ?
there is autotext correction in the profing area, but it keeps loosing the

Are you really using Word 2003 or did you mean to say Word 2007? If you have
Word 2007 and your old AutoText entries appear in Quick Parts in Word as
Building Blocks, you could try the following:
1) With Outlook and Word closed, search for a file called NormalEmail.dotm
and rename it to NormalEmail.old
2) Make a copy of the Normal.dotm file (which belongs to Word) and rename
it NormalEmail.dotm
3) Open Outlook and see if your Word QuickParts entries are now in
Outlook's Quick Parts section, which is in the Text section of the Insert tab
on the ribbon in a new message window. If so, and if none of your other
e-mail formatting is messed up, you can keep things as-is. If you want to go
back to the old NormalEmail file, close Outlook, delete the NormalEmail.dotm
file, and rename NormalEmail.old back to NormalEmail.dotm.
Failing that, you will need to copy and paste your old AutoText entries into
Outlook's Quick Parts one by one. (I'm not real happy with that either...)

YES! it worked, many thanks (Of course i am using Office 2007, but i kept
copy of normal.dot from office 2003 which i converted as you said).

Do you know how to make the transfer or at least add to Quick Parts?

You really aren't using Word 2003 unless your system is terribly messed up.
Outlook 2007 uses a bundled component of Word 2007 (it uses it even if Word
2007 isn't installed) and the is no user choice.
Maybe you assumed that if only Word 2003 was installed you were using that.

Well, you are correct, what I meant to say is that I have only Outlook 07,
not the entire office package. When I create a new mail message, it is
certainly this bundled component. My challenge is that the entire quick parts
ribbon is visible, but disabled.
Would you know why?

Quick Parts should be just a button in the Text Chunk in the Insert Ribbon.
Is the button there active? You wont' see anything (except a blanked out
"Save selection to Quick part Gallery") until you create a Quick Part. You
do so by selecting text in he body of an email and then "Save Selection as a
Quick Part" will be enabled. Save it and you can use it in the future.

Hi, and thanks. I see the button, but when I highlight the text and go to
create, the button is inactive. I cannot activate it. I assumed this was a
setting. Have you seen this before?

No. I haven't seen it. I heard during the beta that some functionality might
not be there if Word 2007 was also not installed. Maybe that is the case.

Please help - I've done what you've suggested and I still can't see my quick
parts in Outlook. When I go tp the Templates folder there is a "ghost" copy
of NormalEmail.dotm and Normal.dotm open which indicates to me that Outlook &
Word are open, but I have definitely closed them.

I was able to get my AutoText to display in the Organizer in Outlook (phew!).
But I was wondering what happens when you create new AutoText in Word? How
does it get transferred to Outlook (or vice versa when created in Outlook)? I
tried creating a new AutoText in Word and when I closed the document, I got
the message to save it to the Building Blocks Organizer, but it did not show
up in the BB Organizer when i went back to Outlook. I tried shutting down
Outlook and reopening it, but it still wasn't there. Do I need to rename the
Normal.dotm to the NormalEmail.dotm everytime I create new AutoText? And how

I make a new autotext entry while I am working with word. A day later, while
I reply to an email using the outlook editor, I decide to use this autotext
entry, which I had created the day before in word.
Oops, it isn’t there…
You get the same oops for the reverse operation.
The different templates, normal.dotm in word and NormalEmail.dotm in outlook
prevent the user of using the same autotext entry, macro or whatever else is
being stored in either dotm in both apps (word & outlook editor)
Is there any way around this? (to use word as an email editor, as it was the
case in office 2003, would be just fine but this option is no more available
in outlook 2007)
