Can't use font in Word document

I am attempting to use one of two versions of the Courier font in my
Word-2000 program -- standard word processing type document. There are two
versions of the Courier font installed on my system and readily visible in
the Fonts folder. Neither of these versions is available from within Word's
font drop-down menu. What can I do to enable the use of the Courier font in
my Word documents?

It's interesting that I'd see such a question as last night I was faced with
an identical situation when transferring fonts from one computer to another
(they) would not show up for me as they should have. My problem turned out
to be that sometimes fonts are accessed from different file locations. As an
example: Using Windows Explorer (or "Search") you can sometimes find font
locations listed under "Windows" and also under your hard drive (often "C").
Look at both locations to get an overview of which fonts are currently
accessable in Word. The location that has the font(s) that you desire needs
to be copied to the folder that has the fonts that you currently have access
to. It's that easy!

Yes, I understand. Currently, all of my fonts are installed in the Fonts
folder within the Windows folder. I recently -- after reading your reply --
installed another version of the Courier font -- from a well-known program.
That version of the Courier font shows up in Word's font drop-down menu.
Great! But why will the other two versions, Courier (10,12,15) not show up,
as well as Courier (VGA)??? It is one of these two latter versions of the
Courier font that I really want to use. Any other suggestions?

You know, I've also experienced the same thing with a font called Black
Chancery. Of the three versions that I could get, only one would unzip
properly for use. My computer (not a recent manufacture utilizing Word 97)
couldn't recognize the other two for use. The version that works is nearly
identical to the one that I originally sought, so it may have something to
do with proprietary rights. (Think of computer "clones"... remember them?)
My thought is that by doing a Google search that you might be able to locate
someone who has already done your legwork. You might get lucky... fonts are
out there for the asking.
