Can't use scanner with Office XP

Lis

We have XP Pro and Office Standard XP, the scanner is an Epson Perfection 1250, which
works
with all other programs. I set it up with MS Office tools for document imaging and
document scanning,
and it can be used from there.

The scanner uses a USB plug, when I try to scan from within Word, PP, etc. it runs thru
Scanning Host: 1ID:7
and I get the following: "scsi error No scanner". And this seems to run on a loop - have
to 3 finger salute to
get task mgr. and stop the program from there. Also under Insert/Pictures the Custom
Insert does not appear on
the menu.

I have run the repair tool and have uninstalled and reinstalled the scanner - but no joy.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I know this sounds odd...
Try accessing the scanner, but wait for it to fail! do not
Ctr-Alt-Del. Office seems to have a bug here, it will try accessing
the scanners in the list one at a time, when it has failed with all of
them you will get the list of sources and can choose the correct
scanner -EPSON Twain 5.
It seems to want to complete a process, using Ctr-Alt-Del does not let
it do so.
