I can't see all of my categories in my Address Book Views column.
When I go into Edit categories, I can see all of my categories, why
don't they all show up in the view column?

The "Categories" column in all of my address book views shows as many
categories as will fit in the column width. If I make the column wider,
it shows all of them. If I make the column thinner, Entourage truncates
the category names with "...".

Maybe you are talking about something else?

Could you take a screen shot of it (Press Apple-Shift-4 and draw a box
around the Entourage window) and post the screen shot on
http://imageshack.us so we can see it?

For instance, here's what the Categories column looks like for me:

Okay... The default address book views are as shown in this screen shot:

From your screen shot, it appears you have changed most of your address
book views to be the same name as some of your categories.

For the life of me I can't imagine why you would want to create a view
for each category!

The thing is, you can very quickly view all addresses in any given
category without creating address book views for each category. All
you need to do is use the filter menu & text box at the top-right
corner of the window. Take a look at the top-right corner of this
screen shot, where I've set the filter menu to "Category is" "Untitled":

This is a very quick, simple way to view all address book entries in
any category. In light of this, creating an address book view for each
category seems like a lot of work to go through, right?

Hi JR:

Thanks for the help. I figured out what I needed to do. I needed to
create a custom view for the categories that were not appearing in my
Address Book Views. I went into Edit Categories, highlighted the
category I wanted and then clicked on Create Custom View and assigned
it to my contact list only and renamed it the same name as the
category and it showed up in the Address Views.

I know I have a lot of categories, but I run my own business and have
four locations. I deal with huge volumes of email correspondence, and
this is the only way I can keep everything organized. I have to sent
notices and press releases to lots of different groups and cities and
individuals, so these multiple categories help me to do that wothout
going crazy.

Thanks again!

Perhaps we don¹t understand your custom views, but as JR explained, you can
get your contacts sorted by category just by using the simple find box on
the right of the contacts window. Change from the default ³Name contains² to
³Category is².

I¹m glad to see you appreciate the importance of categories. Using
categories with rules can really simply things.
I know I have a lot of categories,

That¹s not a lot of categories....trust me. :)

You're welcome, BUT... why do you think you need to do all that work?
Did you read what I said in my previous post? I'll repeat:

You can quickly view contacts in any category *without* creating
address book views for each category! All you need to do is use the
filter menu & text box at the top-right corner of the window. Take a
