can't view background in publisher, only in print preview

please help, the background has vanished from publisher pages, it shows up in
print preview and prints ok but it's difficult to work with without seeing a
background.

Which version of Publisher?

Just a thought...but is the background on
the Master Page? If it is...try going to...
View and uncheck...Ignore Master Page.
