Can't view calendar clicking on it in the navagation screen

G

gries78

Running outlook 2003 on small business server 2003. Several users can no
longer access their calendars by simply clicking on the calendar button in
the navagation pane. The only way the calendar will open is to right click
on the calendar button in the navagation screen and choose the option "open
in new window". When I display the folder list in the navagation pane I can
see listed under the Mailbox-username, the following items: contacts, deleted
items, drafts, inbox, journal, junk email, outbox, sent items, search
folders, archive folders, personal folders, public folders, but no calender.
It's obviously still out there somewhere, I just can't seem to access it the
same way any longer.

Try resetting the Navigation Pane by starting Outlook once with the
/resetnavpane command switch.

I'm not sure how to use the /resetnavpane command switch. How do I perform
this task?

I found how to use the resetnavpane command switch. I did not see any
changes after performing this task. Any suggestions?

So you don't see the calendar in the folder list? Did you look in the other folders to see if it got moved?

Try restarting outlook using the /resetfolders switch - this will restore missing folders.

I checked all my folders in the folder list. The only calendars I see are
old calendars in the deleted folders. I view all of them and verified they
were not the calendar I am searching for. I also tried the resetfolders
switch and again saw no change. I did notice I couldn't open my public or
personal folders in the list. I get an error stating the set of folders
could not be opened. Could this be part of the problem?

Yeah, it could be part of the problem. Close outlook and make a new profile
(control panel, mail) - keep the old profile for now but do not copy it -
you need a totally new profile. See if it works.

I created a new profile in outlook. The new profile still behaves the same
way as the old. No calendar listed in the folder list. One difference I
noticed is I no longer see a personsal folder in the folder list, however the
public folder is there and still unaccessible. This is a bit of a mystery.
We've also found that now we can't seem to view others schedules when
scheduling meetings (which I'm sure will need to be a whole different
discussion, I don't know if that info will help with the calendar issue).
