Can't view pictures and images on Word 2008

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

I can't view the images and pictures on Word 2008 when I open older versions of Word doc. Can only see them when I click print preview.

Take a look in Word> Preferences - View to be certain that you do not have
Image Placeholders checked & that you do have Drawings checked. Also, it
makes a difference which view you're using - graphics which aren't In Line
with Text won't display in Draft or Outline views.
