Can't write e-mail on Outlook Office XP

Have windows XP. Problem with Outlook Office XP. I can
read messages, but I can't write e-mail. When I click to
write e-mail the window for writing becomes minimized on
the bottom. When I click on the iconized square it
flashes and does not maximize.
