Capital letter after a period.

Tools | AutoCorrect, uncheck "capitalize first letter of sentences."

Or use cmd-z occasionally as necessary.

Or in Tools | AutoCorrect, click on Exceptions... to enter terms such as
e.g., i.e. etc--and, I just discovered, ellipses (...) which has been
driving me crazy.
