Capitalise first letter of first word in a numbered list

I have been reading about this and from what everyone is saying, it can't be
done (except the manual way...).

However in Word 2007 it seems to work perfectly (hooray!).

So did MS fix this? Or is this something you can turn on/off?

What I really want to do is get the auto capitalisation working in Word
2002/2003. For example, we want this:

1. The quick brown fox...

rather than this:

1. the quick brown fox...

Any ideas?
Thanks
Susan

As far as I recall, it has been a default autocorrect setting since W2002.

Word 2000 through 2003 does not capitalize the first word after a
number (or bullets) followed by punctuation even with the setting to
cap first words in a sentence checked in the AutoCorrect options. You
have to manually cap the first word, press Shift + F3 (the change case
command) immediately after typing the first word, or use a macro to go
through the document when you are finished. Word 2007 does cap the
first word after numbers followed by punctuation.

Thanks for putting me straight.

I'm really glad to hear this has been fixed. I could live with it in
numbered lists (the application for which I assume the change was intended,
based on user feedback), but it was really annoying in running text.
