Caption number initializing

Is it possible to initialize caption numbering in Word to something other
than 1? I'm doing book chapters in separate files but need the caption
numbers to be globally sequential. It will allow initializing page numbers,
but I haven't found a way to do it with caption numbers.

I'm guessing you are using SEQ fields to do the numbering.

Adding the switch \r n resets the sequence number to the specified number n.
For example, { SEQ figure \r 3 } starts figure numbering at 3.

Adding the switch \s resets the sequence number at the heading level
following the "s". For example, { SEQ figure \s 2 } starts numbering at the
Heading 2 style.

Thanks, G-n-O...that's the info I needed. I figured there was a switch but
didn't know what it was. Too bad Word doesn't make that option available
more easily.
