Capture Outlined Nubering figures

Using VBA code is it possible to caputure the numbers beside a outline
numbered piece of text.

I have

6.13 The client is currently ......

and want to be able to capture the level 1 and level 2 numbers of 6
and 13 for example. I can select the text but where do I go from
there? Any help grately appreciated.
