Capturing a filter

I am using Access 2003. I use a combo box to filter my form. I have a
label I want to be visible when I "apply the filter" and invisible
when I "unapply the filter". I have tried using the ApplyType
parameter for the Form_ApplyFilter event (I thought that if the filter
was turned off the value would change.) This, in fact, used to work
in 2000, but I can't seem to get it in 2003. Any clues?
