Carat size problem

My mother is using Microsoft Word X for Mac and has sight difficulty. Her
main problem is seeing the Carat (insertion tool flashing cursor) on the
screen which is too small and thin for her to be able to see easily. Is
there a way of making it larger?

Hi Michael,

The only way I know of is to change the monitor's resolution. She most
likely has it set at 1024 x 768. Have her try 800 x 600, for instance.
Note that this will make *everything* bigger and all the time (not just in
Word) but it's worth a try.

In OS 9, I do this by accessing Control Panels and then Monitors. It's
undoubtedly different in OS X but you should be able to locate it without
much trouble. If not, post back and someone else can direct you.

Yes, there are various hacks that will permit substitution of a larger
cursor.

However, I don't trust any of these. I prefer just to use the screen
zoom feature built into Mac OS X. See System Preferences > Universal
Access. m.
