Cascading corrupt font problem NOT solved by 11.2.3 update

Greetings!

Just wanted to spread the word that the latest update to Office 2004,
which was released this past week, does nothing to resolve the cascading
corrupt font problem which occurs to many (but not all) users under
Tiger. I have it on each computer running Tiger (4 Macs at home and
office). As far as I know, nobody has ever definitively found a solution
to this problem. The workaround that I have settled on was to buy Font
Finagler ($10 shareware) and run it whenever the problem occurs.

I don't resent the $10, I resent the necessity of restarting whenever
this occurs. That's a PIA because I have to close out everything else
that is going on, which isn't always convenient. Grrr. I wish somebody
would figure this out and fix it! It is preventing me from updating
several other office Macs from Panther to Tiger, because this problem
doesn't occur for us under 10.3.9.

Hi George:

We hear your pain, trust me.

I am still on 10.3.9 here, and I can't/won't go up until this issue is
fixed. Which means no MacIntel for me until we get a definitive solution.

Microsoft has been a bit quiet about the exact cause of this problem (which
might indicate that the cause is theirs...)

I understand that Word is certainly the application most affected, but it's
not the only one.

Cheers
