Cascading list / XML file

Hi,
newbie question.
I managed to create a cascading list with several filters en rules.
My question: what do i need to do when i change my xml file with new entries
or remove some old ones? Will i need to re-create my filters and rules or is
there a simple way to "update" the contents of my xml file to the dropdown
lists?
