Catastrophic Failure

I've run into a problem and can't find anything through Google or
anywhere else, so I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I've got several infopath documents that share a template. I had been
hoping that if need be, that I could have more than one of them open at
the same time. However, when I try to open the second document, I get
a messagebox saying:

InfoPath cannot open the following file: <<filename>>.
Catastrophic failure

I can't believe that I can only have one document open at a particular
time. Is this official policy or is this a potential problem with the
template or document file?
