Problem description:
For certain projects, certain views are unavailable. The user as well as I,
the admin both get the following error from PWA:
Project Center cannot access the project(s) you are trying to view. It is
most likely that you either don't have permissions to view the project,
another user has deleted this project(s) before you were able to view it or
that another user is in the process of publishing the project.
The thing is we both have rights to see the project and can access other
views of the project, The project is not deleted (is still accesible from MSP
as well as PWA) and no publishing process is underway (at least there are no
projects to force check-in).
Our setup is as follows:
We have recently migrated from PS2003 to PS2007 and are now experiencing
problems with certain PWA views for certain projects.
We have a custom defined manager group (MG) which have access to a category
(MC) which enable them to access (among other things) the Project Center view
as well as the Project View for all enterprise projects.
The team members of each project have access to a project specific category
enabling them to see an array of views.
The project specific categories and the MC have some views in common.
A resource which used to be PM for some projects has now been promoted to
become manager. The resource will still need to be able to see the project
specific views as she is to manage the project as PM at the same time as she
will be working as general manager.
We have (so far) only experienced the above problem with projects where a
manager also has specific project rights. I have tried removing the specific
project rights from the specific user but to no avail. There is no problem
opening the project via MSP, so I guess the problem is not due to any
check-in pending situation.
The category setup described above worked in the 2003 version and I fail to
see why it should not be working now, but right now I am a bit puzzled as to
what the cause of the problem can be.
