I recently upgraded from Outlook 2003 to 2007. I assign custom categories to
all my contacts for business sorting and my crm. Now they do not appear in
2007. Does Outlook 2007 not suupport custom categories? and if it does how do
i synch 2003 with 2007 so they transfer?

Where don't they appear? Did you upgrade to color categories? Right click on
the top level folder (outlook today level) and choose properties, then click
the button to upgrade categories.

each.

I hope i am being clear, sorry.

i'm sorry, but i see the update category colors in properties, but all of my
contacts have a category assigned in OTLok03 but now when i upgrade to 2007 i
loose that functionality? Would you have to reassign categories to all the
contacts again once in otlok2007? thanks, hope i am clear.

you won't lose the categories. OL2007 puts categories at the top of the
page.

No, you won't lose the categories, it will just bring them into the master
category list and assign colors to them.

Have you clicked the new Categorize button on the toolbar, then "All
categories"? There you see the Master Category List, whereas the first list
you see after clicking the Categorize button only shows the last 15 used
categories.

there is no master category list showing in the categorize button on tool
bar. It looks as if when i brought contacts in, it did not recognize. And
just to clarify, i am refering to the old category option on the bottom right
of a contact in OTLOK2003, the the lable option for contact or messages.
thanks

As Diane told you, the textbox and button are gone. Now, you may find the
categories by clicking on the new button on the toolbar. After a click on
the button, you see the last used categories. that list may hold up to 15
entries. If you want to see all of your categories from the Master category
List, you need to click on "All categories."

I've already seen that the "Update to color categories" function doesn't
work. Instead you may use Category Manager, for details and the download
please see the link in my signature.

Why would you import? Just reuse the existing PST in the new mail profile.

Then you wouldn't have the categories in the Master Category List.
